A finely proportioned American Federal period chest on chest, crafted in richly figured mahogany and dating to circa 1800. This elegant two-part form features a graduated arrangement of drawers, with a pair of smaller drawers over a series of long drawers, all retaining their original brasses.

The drawer fronts display beautifully figured and bookmatched mahogany veneers, showcasing warm tones and lively grain patterns characteristic of the period. Each drawer is fitted with oval brass pulls adorned with finely cast lion head motifs, all of which appear to be original and consistent throughout—an increasingly rare and desirable feature.

The case is surmounted by a molded cornice and raised on shaped bracket feet, reflecting the refined neoclassical influence of the Federal era. Drawer construction reveals hand-cut joinery and early secondary woods, further supporting its early 19th-century origin. The chest retains working locks, including a substantial brass lock mechanism, indicative of quality craftsmanship.

With its balanced proportions, original hardware, and rich patina, this piece represents a handsome example of early American Federal furniture, suitable for both traditional and transitional interiors.
