Edward Wormley for Dunbar

Edward Wormley (1907–1995) was Dunbar Furniture's chief designer for over three decades, quietly bridging traditional American cabinetmaking with European modernism. Unlike more austere contemporaries, Wormley favored warmth — rich mahogany and walnut casework, tufted tuxedo sofas, and tables finished in terrazzo or brass — making his work some of the most livable and enduring of the era. Many Dunbar pieces carry model numbers that collectors track closely, and well-documented examples like these command strong prices at auction.
