Collection: Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for Knoll

Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1886–1969) was a pioneering German-American architect and furniture designer, and one of the most influential figures of twentieth-century modernism. His furniture designs — most famously the Barcelona chair, along with the tubular Brno armchair and cantilevered MR and B42 chairs — embody his philosophy of “less is more,” with precise proportions, luxurious materials, and an almost architectural sense of structure.

These designs have been produced under license over the decades by manufacturers including Knoll, Gordon International, and Stendig — each piece here is clearly noted by maker and era.
