A striking hand-worked copper wall panel by French brutalist artist Vincent Payez, signed and dated 1967. The composition features a raised, repoussé floral and botanical motif — a stylized flower with a long stem, trailing vines, and clustered seed-pod forms — outlined in fine soldered or applied metal linework against a hammered copper ground. The rich, variegated palette of amber, burnt orange, russet, and deep umber is achieved entirely through torch-applied heat patina, with no added paint or dye — the coloration comes directly from the copper's reaction to flame, giving each area a one-of-a-kind, painterly depth. The surface is sealed with a glossy lacquer that has developed light craquelure and soft undulations consistent with age and the hand-hammering process. Signed lower right. A wonderful example of 1960s brutalist metal art, with the warmth and organic sensibility that pairs naturally with mid-century modern and Danish modern interiors.

Wear consistent with age and use. This piece has a few bumps and bruises but it is in very good shape and presents very well.
