A striking mid-century table lamp made from original curved letterpress printing plates used to print The Wall Street Journal. The masthead runs vertically down the front in mirror image, along with the dateline Monday, January 4, 1960, the Dow Jones copyright line, the “What’s News” column and a stock-price chart, all preserved in raised relief.
The plates form a tall cylinder framed by solid walnut: a vertical walnut spline separates the plates, and a walnut cap and round base finish the top and bottom. A brass stem and socket complete the lamp. The contrast of matte gray metal and warm walnut gives it an industrial-meets-modern look that suits a desk, credenza or side table.
It’s a genuine piece of financial-news history and an ideal gift for anyone in finance, investing or journalism.
